WHY CURVWAY!

FAQ

  • Curvway is a company specialising in road-approved electric boards. What makes a Curvway unique is its aesthetic design, advanced technology and ability to offer a riding experience similar to snowboarding on asphalt. Our boards are designed to be used safely on the road and stand out for their style and performances.

  • Yes, CURVWAY boards are road-compliant and fall under the legislation for Personal Light Electric Vehicles (PLEVs), similar to electric scooters. Like any PLEV, they have to be insured accordingly

  • Of course. CURVWAY boards are as manoeuvrable as a bicycle, with the added advantage of no handlebars, allowing for easier weaving through tight spaces. They have a turning radius similar to a bicycle and can, naturally, ride straight as well.

  • At 25 km/h (15 mph), as stipulated by the Highway Code.

As with any sport, there is always a risk of falling.

Please note that your feet are not strapped in, and you can ride with or without foot straps. When using foot straps, your feet remain completely free to step out at any moment, with no restriction underneath. In most cases, this allows the rider to safely dismount if necessary and land on their feet . This is similar to riding a skateboard, for instance.

We strongly recommend always wearing a helmet (legally required outside cities) and using gloves and elbow pads. Knee pads are also a useful addition.

  • The only requirement to ride is the desire to get on it! For someone experienced in board sports such as snowboarding, surfing, wakeboarding, kitesurfing, etc., just a few seconds will be enough. For beginners in these sports, expect to take around 10 minutes before you’re ready to go for a ride. 😁

  • The ideal place for learning is a car park. It allows new riders to get comfortable and familiarise themselves with the board: no bumps, no holes, a clear view ahead, and a sense of safety. Once you're confident, a flat, grassy area will help you gain even more confidence.

  • Is insurance required?
    - Yes. As the Curvway board is classified as a PLEV, road insurance is mandatory. We can offer advice.

Are the boards compliant with the Highway Code?
    - Yes, by design.

What to do in case of an accident?

    - Exactly the same as with a bicycle, moped, or any motorised vehicle.
For more details, please contact your insurer.

  • Yes, absolutely. You will find user manuals in each of your Curvway boxes
